Olympiacos grabbed an emphatic win over Unics in Kazan with 75-90 and improved to a 15-6 record in the standings. The Russian team is practically out of the playoffs, with 7 wins and 14 losses.
Erick Green led the Reds to this fiery win in Basket Hall Kazan, with 25 points, while Giorgos Printezis followed with 20.
Right from the first quarter, the visiting team showed signs of total dominance from the perimeter, with Green, Vangelis Mantzaris and Printezis showing no mercy against the hosts. After 10 minutes, Olympiacos was up 13-33.
At 12′, the Greek team had managed to score 9 out of their attempted 12 3-pointers, grabbing a 16-41 lead. Unics started covering the chaotic deficit, yet was still down by 20 at halftime, 36-56.
Unics ‘threatened’ by cutting down the difference to 14 points, midway through the third period, yet Green was on fire for the visitors that stayed up 54-69.
In the final period, Voronov dropped the deficit to 7, and Unics’ pressure had an effect on the visitors’ offense. Still, with less than 4 minutes to go, the team from Piraeus still kept their lead to double digits. Printezis scored 8 back to back points to seal the victory for Olympiacos with 2 minutes left in the game.
