With free agency approaching for Thomas Heurtel on summer, it’s natural to consider options that possibly include the jump to the NBA.

However, the French point guard, that averages 13.8 points and 6.3 assists in EuroLeague with Anadolu Efes, isn’t really fond of moving to the best league of the planet just to spend his time at the bench.

“If I was offered with the opportunity, I’d seriously think about it,” he said in a lengthy interview for LNB.fr, the official website of the French League. “Of course, I’d study the possibilities carefully. The NBA is still a kid’s dream. But I I won’t go there to not play. The plan is that I’d I want to play minimum 10 to 15 minutes. I will listen to what offers I’ll have and see. But yes, it remains a dream and it’s an experience that I’d dream of knowing.”

The 27-year-old playmaker also talked about the upcoming Eurobasket tournament and the aspirations with the French national team. “I hope that everyone will come, which is not something given. It would be great to win a medal here in TUrkey. I think we have a great team with strong personalities and characters. Nando (De Colo) is going to take over the leadership and I think this should go very well.”

Speaking of Nando De Colo, his Heurtel commented on the criticism that the CSKA Mosow guard received after last year’s Olympic Games. He also mentioned that if anyone must be the leader of “Les Bleus” then that’s the 2016 EuroLeague and Final Four MVP.

“Nando already had a lot of responsibilities last summer. Plus he’s a great guy. Afterwards some people said some things in the newspapers. I didn’t really find these things to be good. Nando must be the natural leader of the French team. Last summer it was more blurry, because it was Tony’s (Parker) last tournament. It’s normal now that he (De Colo) will still have a big role in the team.”
