A red hot 11 – 28 first quarter entrance set the wheels in motion for a more than easy victory of Baskonia over Brose Bamberg.
The Basques won 96 – 71 behind a 17 points career-high (along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists) of Chase Budinger, the double-double of Tornike Shengelia (16 points, 12 rebounds) plus the 17 points and 7 assists courtesy of Shane Larkin.
Now not only have they come incredibly close to sealing a playoffs spot but can seriously hope of possibly finishing the regular season at the Top 4 in the standings after Fenerbahce‘s defeat earlier tonight.
Baskonia is now fifth in the standings with a 16 – 11 record and has the tie-breaking advantage over Fener that remained at 17 victories.
On to the match, an already playoffs eliminated Brose Bamberg didn’t only have to face a highly determined opponent but struggle against the absences of Janis Strelnieks and Maodo Lo. It fell behind way too early and never managed to recover, since the 17 points and 5 rebounds by Jerel McNeal, Lucca Staiger’s 12 and Daniel Theis’ 11 plus 5 rebounds, weren’t enough.
