The already eliminated Barcelona hosted Crvena Zvezda and grabbed the win with 67-54, while the latter is now in trouble in the chase of a playoffs’ race!
Stratos Perperoglou’s all-around performance with 17 points stood out for the winners, while Petteri Koponen finished with 13 points.
Sasa Vezenkov (8 pts) gave energy to the hosts’ game early on, though Zvezda’s offensive rebounding resulted in more scoring attempts in the first quarter. Nate Wolters (8 pts) scored in dead shotclock time and placed the Red and Whites ahead 17-18 after 10 minutes.
Stratos Perperoglou expanded Barcelona’s lead to 27-22 at 16′, while the Blaugranas were even able to keep a short head at halftime with 32-29.
For the first time in the game, the hosts could accelerate and keep a 44-34 lead midway through the third period, while the visitors seemed out of place, both in defense and offense. A little outbreak of Zvezda resulted in a 52-43 score after 30 minutes.
A 6-0 run by the Serbian team in the final period shook Barcelona, though it wasn’t enough for the hosts to be threatened.
