Darussafaka Dogus qualified to the EuroLeague playoffs for the first time in the history of the franchise and as David Blatt said in the press confernece, his team deserves every single bit of this success.
“With all due respect to Crvena Zvezda which had a great season and got big wins, the team that should’ve been in the Top 8… is in the Top 8,” said the coach of Dacka.
While the Turkish team is now quarterfinals-bound, it will most likely not participate in next season’s EuroLeague.
When Blatt was asked about how he feels on the fact that one of “the Top eight teams in Europe” will not play in the top-tier continental competition next year, he answered, “I’m going to let the good people that run the EuroLeague make those kind of decisions. We’ll see what happens. I’ve expressed myself very clearly and let those people do what they do. I think without question that what we’ve done… says something! There are more than one A-license teams that are not in the Top 8. I’m going to let the bosses decide what happens”.
