Despite being down 75 – 63 in the mid of the fourth period, Baskonia didn’t only manage to come back but went incredibly close to force an overtime, after a 3-pointer by Rodrigue Beaubois with 11 seconds remaining.
With the score 82 – 82 and only one second left, CSKA managed to touch the ball inside the paint and to Kyle Hines’ hands. The American center won the foul under the rim and went 2/2 from the line, granting CSKA Moscow 84 – 82 victory over the Basques.
The defending champs are now 2 – 0 in the series, an advantage that has never been overturned in the history of the EuroLeague playoffs.
Milos Teodosic was once again the top scorer and passer with 16 points and 8 assists while committing only one turnover in the 27 minutes he spent on the floor. He had 13 in the first five minutes of the second half, helping his team build a lead that even went up to 17, 64 – 47, two minutes before the end of the third period.. Nando De Colo and Kyle Hines added 10 points each.
Rodrigue Beaubois had a team-high 21 points plus 5 assists for Baskonia, including the basket that could’ve sent the game to the extra period. Chase Budinger added 12 points and 6 rebounds, Johannes Voigtmann 10 points, same as Kim Tillie who also had 9 rebounds.
