Darussafaka had received 70 points entering the fourth quarter of Game 3 of the EuroLeague playoffs vs Real Madrid, having responded with 58. It was natural that the inability to make stops was David Blatt’s main complaint with how his players behaved on the floor.
“We cannot defend like we did tonight, we cannot defend like… crap,” said Blatt. “They (Real Madrid) are too good of a team. With the exception of the fourth quarter we didn’t defend near the level we usually do or we are capable of. And we paid the price for that. When we did we didn’t the job in the defensive rebound and that really hurt us. No excuses. It’s the playoffs.”
Blatt also mentioned: “Congratulations to Real Madrid. We didn’t play well enough in the first half to give ourselves a fair chance of winning the game. And then we chased during the second half. We got close but we never really got on top of the game and you never do that against team as talented as Real. You’re going to lose and that’s what happened.”
