However on Tuesday evening “newsbomb.gr” a website owned by Dimitris Giannakopoulos, published an audio recording and footage of the two men, Panathinaikos team manager at the team Manos Papadopoulos and then assistand coach Dimitris Itoudis discussing the team’s budget, with Obradovic allegedly asking for a raise from 13 millions to 15.
Obradovic appears to say that with a smaller budget, the fans will turn against the team and the players will leave, while Giannakopoulos counter answer is that no other team in Europe pays that much money for players’ accommodation.
According to the newsbomb article this conversation demonstrates that the motive of Obradovic’s decision was financial, something that the coach himself denied many times.
