Tornike Shengelia penned a new three-year deal with Baskonia and made his first comments regarding his decision on the team’s official website.
“I want to win titles with Baskonia and I want to become one of the icons of this club. When I speak of Baskonia, I want my name to be heard,” said the Georgian power forward.
“If I stayed in Europe, Baskonia was my first choice in the list because I think it’s one of the best teams in the continent,” he added.
Shengelia, 25, also talked about how his fighting attitude fits with what the club represents. “I carry the character of Baskonia dee; inside me. I am a person who fights a lot in the matches and I always give everything I have. I think Baskonia and me are a good combination.”
Baskonia fans were definitely happy to hear the news and Shengelia is quite aware of it. “I have seen their reaction. How pleased they were when my renewal was announced. I want to thanks them and tell them that I’m just as happy to have them at my side for the next few years.”
