Thomas Heurtel was expected to be among the hottest names in the market so it didn’t take him long to find the new station of his professional career.
The French play-maker is ready to sign a two-year, 2.5 million contract with Barcelona and become the first transfer of the Blaugrana ahead of the new season, according to Eurohoops sources.
Heurtel became a free agent with the completion of the season with Anadolu Efes. After spending three seasons in Istanbul and will now continue his career on the other side of Europe and the quite familiar environment of Liga Endesa.
After all, the 28-year-old guard began making headlines in European basketball with Baskonia, where he played from 2011 to 2014.
Last season he averaged 12.7 points and 5.6 assists per game in EuroLeague with the Turkish team, reaching the competition’s playoffs.
The interest of Barcelona for Heurtel was first reported by Mundo Deportivo as also the fact that Sito Alonso emerges as a key option for the team bench.
