The transfer of Janis Strelnieks won’t be the last Olympiacos is planning to make in order to to bolster its backcourt lineup. Already there’s a two-year offer on the table for Aaron Jackson, previously of CSKA Moscow, a guard who the Reds consider as someone that would really complement their roster.
Several reports from Serbia are also linking Olympiacos to Stefan Jovic of Crvena Zvezda. As Eurohoops learned, the 2017 ABA and Serbian League champions haven’t received any call from the Greek club regarding the possible acquisition of their starting playmaker.
While Jovic is a point guard of rare skills and “floor general” qualities in European basketball right now that make him a hooper who could potentially be a fit in most EuroLeague teams, Olympiacos is searching for a completely different type of player (a more dangerous shooter) to add in a first-line outfit currently occupied by Vassilis Spanoulis, Vangelis Mantzaris and newcomer Strelnieks.
