Zalgiris Kaunas officially announced the transfer of Lithuanian guard Lukas Lekavicius to Panathinaikos.
The 23-year-old player comes from a breakthrough season in EuroLeague during which he averaged 8.5 points, 3.5 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 18 minutes per game.
According to Lithuanian journalist Donatas Urbonas, Panathinaikos will pay a sum of 100.000 to buy the player from Zalgiris.
“This was probably the most difficult decision of my life,” Lekavicius said for the website of his now former team. “It’s so sad to leave such teammates, coaches and fans. However coach Xavi Pascual has been interested me for some years and he’s convinced me to join Panathinaikos. Let’s move forward”.
