Olympiacos’ long search for a guard continues and the club has been engaged in talks with American combo Errick McCollum, according to Eurohoops sources.
The two sides are currently negotiating a potential 1+1 deal and there should be a development in the next 2-3 days.
McCollum also has a two-year offer by Unicaja Malaga on his hands and there is a contract with a range of 2 million waiting for him in China. But he’s seriously pondering the option of continuing his career with Olympiacos.
One main reason behind this is that McCollum holds Reds’ head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos in great esteem. They had cooperated successfully in Panionios back in 2013/2014 when the American player was top scorer of the Greek League averaging 17.9 points per game.
McCollum spent most of the previous season playing in China with the Beikong Flying Dragons before returning to Galatasaray. In his first stint with the Turkish team, he led them to the 2016 EuroCup title while earning season MVP honors.
In the meantime, Olympiacos’s offer to Ricky Hickman still stands. While the 2014 EuroLeague champion with Maccabi Tel Aviv has a 1+1 bid for 1.4 million from the Reds, Brose Bamberg has offered him a guaranteed two-year contract.
