The deal between Baskonia and Marcelinho Huertas is done with the Brazilian play-maker signing a two-year, 1.4 million (net) contract with the club according to Eurohoops sources.
As reported earlier, Huertas contemplated agreeing with either the Basques or Unicaja Malaga but was definitely closer towards a return to Vitoria. He will be indeed reunited with the team he made his career breakthrough, for the first time since 2011.
The 34-year-old point guard is coming back to Europe and, of course, EuroLeague following a two-season run in the NBA with the jersey of the L.A. Lakers during which he averaged 3.9 points and 3.1 assists in almost 14.6 minutes per game.
A EuroLeague veteran with a seven-year experience in the top-tier continental competition and three Final Four appearances (2012, 2013, 2014), Huertas has also played for Joventut Badalona and Barcelona apart from Baskonia. He holds an Italian passport thus he allows extra room to his team for potentially signing an extra non-European player, if needed.
