Crvena Zvezda has been quite active in the summer market following the lift of the temporary transfer ban imposed by FIBA and is now moving aggressively towards signing a player who will undertake the bulk of scoring duties during the next season.
According to Eurohoops sources, Ryan Toolson has also emerged as a serious candidate for the position of the starting shooting guard on the roster of the Serbian club.
The American player arrives from the most prolific season in his career so far, during which he averaged 18.9 points (52% two-pointers, 46% from beyond the arc), 2.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds during 27 minutes per game in EuroCup with the jersey of Zenit St. Petersburg.
Red Star is also considering the option of Dominican guard James Feldeine for the same spot on its roster and, so far, it’s between him and Toolson. The latter is the most expensive choice between the two so it remains to be seen if that is the factor that ultimately tips the scale in Feldeine’s favor.
