Maccabi Tel Aviv signed Belarusian center Artsiom Parakhouski to a one-year deal. The news was announced by the club during today’s team practice.

Parakhouski, 29, had been a free agent following the completion of his contract with Russian club Unics Kazan. He finished the previous season in EuroLeague averaging 11.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

Despite the above numbers plus the fact that he was widely considered one of the top centers in last season’s EuroLeague and a big guy of notable prowess at the low post, Parakhouski had been without a team for most of the offseason.

As Eurohoops learned, Parakhouski had turned down various offers from well-known European clubs (one of them from Besiktas in Turkey), because he was waiting to hear from a EuroLeague team since his primary goal was to continue playing in the top-tier continental championship.

When the proposal of Maccabi arrived, it was a no-brainer for him to continue his career with the “Yellows” and return to Israel where he previously played for Hapoel Jerusalem during 2013-2104.
