Barcelona officially announced that longtime team captain Juan Carlos Navarro signed a new, ten-year deal with the club.
“La Bomba” will continue hooping in the upcoming season and with the completion of 2017/2018, the club and himself will agree on whether he will continue as a player or assume a new role within the organization.
Navarro, 37, debuted with Barcelona’s senior squad back in 1997 and has been playing for the team ever since, excluding a one-year stint in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies during 2007-2008.
He’s been a two-time EuroLeague winner (2003, 2010), eight-time Spanish League champion and six-time Spanish Copa Del Rey winner with the Blaugrana.
Last Sunday, Navarro announced his retirement from the Spanish national team after 17 years full of distinctions and no less than ten medals in international competitions.
