Nick Calathes was stripped from being captain of Panathinaikos after breaking curfew in Moscow (together with Chris Singleton, James Gist and K.C. Rivers) and the Greens needed someone to fill the role
Ian Vougioukas has assumed the position for more reasons than one.
The experienced Greek, who returned to Panathinaikos this summer, previously played for the six-time EuroLeague champions from 2010-2012. In that stint, he helped the club win the 2011 EuroLeague, the 2011 Greek league title and the 2012 Greek Cup trophy.
Vougioukas was officially named captain before the first official game of Panathinaikos, against Kolossos Rhodes for the Greek Cup.
