Real Madrid conquered the Zalgirio Arena and got the 87 – 66 road win against Zalgiris Kaunas in a game where Luka Doncic registered a new career-high in scoring (28 points). Real has now a 16 – 1 record against the Lithuanians in Euroleague. Both teams came from a victory on Tuesday against AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan and FC Barcelona Lassa respectively.
In the first minutes, Zalgiris struggled offensively (10-2, 5′) but they recovered themselves to end the quarter just two points behind (18-16). Kevin Pangos paced the hosts in the first half. The Canadian finished the game with 20 points and 5 assists. Antanas Kavaliaskas also contributed with 16.
“Los Blancos” scored back-to-back three-pointers to close the first half at 40-31. After the break, Luka Doncic took control of the game and led the way with 14 third-quarter points.
Entering the final period of the game, Pablo Laso’s team had a double-digit lead and cruised until the last minutes of the game.
The key: Zalgiris led only once the game (25-26, 16′) but Real Madrid reaction was impressive as they respond with a 13-2 run commanded by Facundo Campazzo. The Argentinian finished the night with 12 points and 6 assists.
The star: It has to be Luka Doncic again. The Slovenian star completed a great second half to lead all the scorers with 28 points (career high). He also grabbed 9 rebounds for a 35 PIR.
Real Madrid remains undefeated after Round 4 while Zalgiris is tied at 2-2.
