CSKA did a notable job on forcing Efes to turnovers throughout the game. Here’s how the Greek coach comments on this: “We forced 18 turnovers in back-to-back games, and that’s something that we have worked on a lot, and were able to do against Panathinaikos in previous game, and now against Efes, such a talented team, with a lot of good ballhandlers, a lot of good isolation players, a lot of good creators. We forced them into 18 turnovers, and that’s the key.”
As the Russian team improved its defense in the second quarter, things became a lot easier for them. Coach Itoudis notes:”It shows us, although maybe we don’t get that much of a credit on their 80 points, but I’m telling you we did a pretty good job, besides the first quarter, on defense.”
He also focused on what’s to be done for CSKA to keep being on the winning track: “What we are looking for now is the continuity and consistency on what we are doing. It’s not easy because we miss practices, we miss the chemistry, but today I’m happy with my players. They responded well.”
