In an interview with Spanish Farhampton Magazine, CSKA Moscow guard and 2016 EuroLeague MVP Nando De Colo discussed his NBA career and the possibility of returning to the league in the future.
“The truth is that going to San Antonio was a somewhat complicated decision because I knew I could continue in Europe,” De Colo said. “I had contacts with Barcelona, for example. On the other hand, I wanted to go to the NBA and see how it was. In the Spurs, I didn’t have the opportunities I expected. I think that is a part of life that you can’t control”.
After two years, the French combo guard decided to come back to Europe choosing CSKA despite the fact that he could stay in the NBA: “I asked the Spurs to trade me to another team where I could have more minutes and play more years. Once in Toronto, I wanted to continue there, until CSKA called me”.
When asked if he would ever consider going back to the NBA De Colo answered, “I don’t close the door to the NBA, but for the moment I’m happy in Europe and I prefer to concentrate on the present. Afterwards, we’ll see what happens”.
De Colo is bound (with a quite lucrative contract) to CSKA until 2019, so that door will remain closed for some time.
