Maccabi Tel Aviv tied its franchise’s all-time EuroLeague record in offensive rebounds (19) en route to bashing Olimpia Milano 79 – 68 at home in a manner far easier than what the final score implies.

It was the Israelis’ first win after two losses and third overall in this season’s EuroLeague campaign.

With Alex Tyus posting a double-double of 12 points plus a career-high 15 rebounds while registering a new personal record in offensive (8) boards, the “Yellows” were even up by 21, 66 – 45 in the beginning of the third period after storming into the second half with a pair of 3s and lethal jumpers.

Milano reacted a bit in the fourth when its opponents became complacent due to their large lead but only managed to cut their deficit to 11, 72 – 53, never becoming truly dangerous thus suffering their fourth defeat in five games.

Dairis Bertans scored a team-high 13 points and dished out four assists for the “Red Shoes” that saw their main floor-general Jordan Theodore having his worst game of the season (2 points, 1/7 from the field, two assists and five turnovers for -5 PIR) while Drew Goudelock scored 11 but with 4/15 shots.

Apart from Tyus, DeShaun Thomas had 14 points plus eight rebounds and DeAndre Kane 12 points. Norris Cole added 10 points and eight assists while Artsiom Parakhouski and Pierre Jackson also scored 10 each.
