Five EuroLeague clubs are examining the possibility of letting some of their international players join their national teams for the World Cup Qualifiers games of November and February, according to Eurohoops sources.
These clubs are Anadolu Efes, CSKA Moscow, Khimki Moscow, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Panathinaikos Athens.
There won’t be any change in the EuroLeague schedule since the clubs’ decision about this is definitive. However, there has been a certain amount of pressure not only by national federations but also on a political level, hence why those clubs are considering the above option.
As of now, nothing is certain since the talks are ongoing. What remains clear is that the situation in European basketball on the matter of the FIBA windows remains chaotic.
