The European Commission may have the last word on the conflict that divides the European basketball.

According to the Spanish news agency “EFE” the Directorate-General of competition will produce a decision on the conflict for the scheduling issues between FIBA and EuroLeague.

Both parties presented their positions and their differences to the commission, which is responsible for ensuring the application of European laws of economics and business competition. The Spanish member of the European Parliment Santiago Fisas is presented to be acting as a mediator between FIBA and EuroLeague, as it was revealed by the president of the Spanish Superior Council of Sports (CSD), Jose Ramon Lete.

It remains to be seen how this action will have an effect in the debate between FIBA and EuroLeague and what role it may play in a possible solution. Still, it seems unlikely that anything can change until the end of the month before the first “window” for the FIBA World Cup qualifying games.
