Khimki Moscow head coach Giorgos Bartzokas revealed he had many complaints from his players after they allowed no less than 48 points by Baskonia in the first half.
“I was really pissed off in the locker rooms at halftime. It wasn’t about winning or losing. It was about the way we approached the game,” said the Greek coach in the post-game presser.
Everything changed for the Russian team in the third quarter when they intensified their defensive efforts to ultimately grab their fifth victory in the EuroLeague season.
“We managed to win the game in the second half by playing much much better on defense. We made a lot of defensive stops especially in transition and we created some open shots. We won and should be happy about it. In EuroLeague, every win counts. Especially against a Spanish team like Baskonia. They were in the great mood and you saw that they had confidence also near the end.”
“I have to congratulate Baskonia for the way they played but also to our team for victory and the way we played,” Bartzokas added.
