Brose Bamberg grabbed a big comeback win over Barcelona, that run out of fuel in the second half, at home with 84-81.
Andrea Trinchieri’s squad improved to 4-3 in the competition, while the “Blaugranas” sank to 2-5.
The key: With five minutes to go, Augustine Rubit pushed the home team to just one point behind Barcelona (74-73), then Dorell Wright gave the Germans the lead and the psychological vantage point for the remainder of the game.
The star: Wright finished the game with 16 points, 7 rebounds and five assists, while he played a major role in Bamberg’s comeback when the team needed it the most.
The game: The mood was set from early on, as Barcelona took charge with Seraphin and got ahead 11-6. The visitors were very efficient on the offensive end and paced the first period with an astonishing 38-12.
Bamberg tried to strike back in the second period with a partial 9-2 score, cutting down the score to 40-21. Kevin Seraphin helped the Spanish team keep its unapproachable lead for a bit, though the German side was tough enough to end the first half at 49-37.
Βy mid-third period, the hosts seemed to have returned to the game, as Luka Mitrovic trimmed to 8 points (56-48) and soon enough the game went on again, 66-62 at 30′.
