Twenty years ago, on November 23, 1997, Juan Carlos Navarro made his Spanish League debut, in a game against Granada at Palau Blaugrana. “La Bomba” scored ten points in ten minutes.
Tomorrow will be the 20-year anniversary of that first game with the jersey of Barcelona. A historical milestone for which he will receive a well-deserved tribute from the club before the EuroLeague match against Maccabi.
“Tomorrow will be a special day for me. I want it to coincide with a good game and a victory for the team and I hope that the people who come will have a good time. I will enjoy it for sure and my family, who is the one who holds me up. It’s an important date and I want my daughters to be there to see it“, Navarro said.
“The truth is that everything happened very quickly. I never thought about playing so many games, winning so many things and being in such a team for so many years”.
“If I look back and see everything I’ve achieved, it’s impressive: the first European Cup, the one in Barcelona 2003 was special. It was the first but I prefer the Paris one. I was a more important player in the team and I was also the MVP of that final”.
The Spanish player has won a lot throughout his career but doesn’t stop dreaming more titles: “I have reached many Final Four and the truth is that the percentage is not very good. We haven’t won it for many years and I would like to end my career with the third EuroLeague“.
Navarro’s trophy case with Barcelona includes 2 EuroLeague titles, 1 Korac Cup, 8 Spanish Leagues, 6 Copas del Rey and 5 Spanish Super Cups.
