Khimki Moscow Region was able to beat Brose Bamberg 82-73 at home in the opening game of Round 10 in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague.
It was a close game most of the time as Khimki had just 42-40 lead after the first half, but Andrea Trinchieri’s team fall short in the last period. The hosts are back to wins after a streak of three straight defeats improving their record to a 6-4 as Bamberg slipped to a 5-5.
The Key: The home squad had more focus and energy down the last stretch. Alexey Shved scored a deep three with 3 minutes left on the clock bringing Khimki double-double lead 78-66 and hosts never looked back.
The Star: Who else than Alexey Shved who was doing everything for the hosts as he finished the game with a EuroLeague season-high 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists which were enough for 25 in PIR. He had a help from his teammates as Antony Gill scored 14 points.
Not enough: Ricky Hickman had the game-high for Bamberg with 21 points, but that was not enough for the Germans.
Taylor Honeycutt played his first game of the season for Khimki as he came back from the injury scoring 7 points and coach Georgios Bartzokas was happy about it:
“I am happy that Honeycutt is back as he made some crucial points tonight”
