The defending champs got an easy 82-56 win by dominating the boards and having everything under control from the start until finish.
The game was practically decided by the start of the last quarter with Fenerbahce having a 30-18 advantage in the rebounds. Thanks to the dominance on this part of the game, everything else also fell into place with ease for the champs who also had five players scoring in double digits.
The star: Jan Vesely was the first among equals with 15 points and 8 rebounds, being, as usual, the man who dominated the paint.
The key: The partial score in the first seven minutes of the second half was 17-7 for Fenerbahce, the champs got 18 points lead (58-40) and the game was over. The quarter ended with the hosts leading by 20 points (62-42).
Fenerbahce managed to build a 41-33 lead at the end of the first half after an unsportsmanlike foul by Crvena Zvezda with Vesely scoring 10 points. Zvezda managed to stay close but didn’t have the initiative as the hosts dominated the paint and the rebounds.
The second half started with a 6-1 run by the hosts, Fenerbahce got a lead of more than 10 points (47-34) for the first time and Zvezda couldn’t recover after that.
Ognen Dobric led the Serbs with 15 points, but he was not a real factor in the game. No other player of Zvezda scored more than nine points. The only highlight for the visitors was the ring received by Pero Antic.
