Zalgiris Kaunas prevailed over Brose Bamberg at home with 88-84. This marks the Lithuanians’ 8th win in 13 rounds. As for the German side, they slipped to a 6-7 record.
The key: Daniel Hackett was successful from the three-point line, making the score 84-86 with 25 seconds to go, yet Zalgiris outstood the pressure in the end.
The game: Zalgiris opened the game with Brandon Davies scoring the first four points, then a little later on the visitors’ Dorell Wright helped the team get ahead 16-6 after 7 minutes. The hosts bounced back and trimmed to 21-22 after 10 minutes.
A tie at 24 points followed, then Zalgiris starting pulling away, reaching a 42-35 lead at 15′.Bamberg wasn’t willing to give up and managed to stay close at halftime, 50-49.
Five minutes in the third period, Arturas Milaknis succeeded in two attempts from the three-point line, helping Zalgiris expand its lead to double-digits for the first time in the game, 64-54.
Even though the German side tried to come back to the game (72-72 at 30′), four minutes in the final period the hosts kept a safety net with 79-74.
The stars: Arturas Milaknis led the winners with 20 points, Paulius Jankunas followed with 17.
Not enough: Dorell Wright’s 22 points weren’t able to save the Germans in Kaunas.
