Fenerbahce fell to Maccabi Tel Aviv, suffering its fifth loss in the 2017-2018 campaign in EuroLeague and according to Zeljko Obradovic, this was his team’s worst display so far in the season.
“Honestly and with all respect to how Maccabi played: I believe that we played the worst game in EuroLeague this season,” Obradovic said during the post-game press conference. “Without any question. We didn’t read any situation and we shot the ball very bad. They stopped us seven times. They had seven blocked shots. That means that we didn’t have any concentration.”.
In his opening statement, the Serbian coach mentioned the following: “We tried to prepare ourselves before the game for aggressive defense and the aggressive way Maccabi would try to play in the beginning of the game and it was like that. They played really tough, really hard. We gave them the opportunity to play the game that they like to play. It was really very bad how we looked in the beginning of the game. After that, we tried to come back and make it a normal game for us; they led by 4 at halftime. That was a reason to be calmer and try to play a normal game. Some minutes only, we were able to do this and after that, we came back to the same picture as in the beginning of the game.”
“Congratulations to Maccabi. They deserved to win this game. Practically maybe one or two of our players tried to do something tonight. This is always on me, of course. I think what went wrong and try to help the team more,” he added.
