Real Madrid head coach Pablo Laso revealed that Luka Doncic looked somewhat upset after falling two rebounds short of the triple-double achievement but admitted the thing we all know: That there will be plenty triple-doubles for the Slovenian wunderkind in the future.
“I do not give much attention to that (the triple-double). At the end of the game, he seemed upset about not having triple-double against such a team in such a gym. He will have triple-doubles. Even if not, it doesn’t matter as long as we grab the wins,” Laso said during the post-game press conference.
The 18-year-old NBA prospect admitted to Eurohoops that he would indeed like that extra boards but looked happy with the great win his team grabbed.
Regarding Doncic’s overall performance, Laso mentioned that “I think Luka (Doncic) did a great job today. He played against different defenders and adapted himself. He played in several positions, but he can already do it. This is very good for him. He shot 1/7 behind the arc. Sometimes I worry about his decisions, yet he is always doing the right thing. Luka has it. Today he had 10 assists, which is very good for the team. 8 assists are really good for the team as well. Luka is a great player but he is much better when he plays for the team. Both the team and he are aware of it. We are proud of his presence over here. He came here when he was 13 and improved a lot.”
