Following the defeat to Barcelona, CSKA Moscow Dimitris Itoudis expressed his disappointment from the fact that his players didn’t perform with the quality that had put them at the top of the EuroLeague standings.
“We have fighters and we can come back and get the lead. But we didn’t give that… extra. It was not enough,” said Itoudis. “We didn’t even play the game today. We were there for four-five minutes. We are not a team that shoots so bad. That shoots airballs. We had airballs, lack of creation and productivity. We missed layups and open looks. We are not that team. We know what we are, but we need to support it every day. We didn’t today.”
Itoudis also gave credit to Barcelona for the outing they have put in recent matches and the game-winning fighting spirit they showed against his team.
“We made our efforts to come back at halftime but the fact is that Barcelona was more decisive and playing like a wounded animal, with instincts of survival basketball-wise. They have an obvious improvement from previous games. They made good shots, scored in transition and this hurt us the most. Also their offensive rebounds. We were unable to contain their physicality and speed.”
