The referees of Maccabi Tel Aviv – Brose Bamberg didn’t have the same criteria for both teams, according to Andrea Trinchieir.

Brose Bamberg head coach Andrea Trinchieri commented his players for their huge efforts in the game against Maccabi Tel Aviv despite the team’s defeat and expressed his complaints about the officiating.

“I feel very sorry for my players that put together an unbelievable game. We deserved to win and basically, they didn’t let us win. It’s that simple. If you give all the calls to Jackson, you have to give us the calls under the basket. It’s basketball. Everybody should have the same criteria,” Trinchieri said in the post-game presser.

The Bavarians were up 81 – 87 with 3:31 remaining but they couldn’t complete the job. Trinchieri pretty much attributed this loss to the referees’ calls.

“Congratulations to Maccabi but from the bottom of my heart, I’m telling you, my team deserved to win. They played better.  I don’t believe that people pay tickets to see the referees decide the games,” the Italian coach said.

“You know, when I play against Maccabi I don’t expect a lot of calls. But this is way too much,” he added.

Brose Bamberg suffered its fifth loss in a row in Tel Aviv and dropped to a 6 – 11 record. Its playoff changes have been greatly decreased but Trinchieri expects his players to keep fighting.

“This one doesn’t change anything. They aren’t going to take away the passion of my players to play at this level. We just keep on grinding. I really enjoy my same playing in this arena where other big teams couldn’t perform. I believe that everybody should make a check on what we want. How do we want this EuroLeague to be.”
