Khimki found the way to get the 79-70 win despite the fact that Rochestie ended the night almost with a triple-double. The leader of Crvena Zvezda had 27 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and only one turnover, but couldn’t lead the hosts to the win.
Τhe key: Khimki started the last period with a 9-3 run which gave them a 61-57 lead. Zvezda couldn’t even tie the score after that. The Serbs made it a two-point game (64-62), but Khimki’s answer was a 7-2 run (71-64) that practically decided the outcome.
Rochestie had 20 points by the end of the third period which ended with Zvezda having a two points lead (54-52). At halftime, the hosts led by six (37-31) after controlling the first 20 minutes of action. The last word, however, belonged to the Russian side.
The star: Alexey Shved with 29 points provided enough firepower for the winners. In total, he had seven out of 14 field goals, make big shots in the last quarter and also missed just one free throw (10/11). James Anderson added 14 points for the winners.
Zvezda’s Nemanja Dangubic with 20 points and 5/8 threes registered a career-high in EuroLeague.
