Khimki Moscow had suffered quite the blowout defeat to Olympiacos in the first-leg match in Piraeus but tonight, it got some payback. With the same currency.

Following the win over Crvena Zvezda, the Russian team completed the double-game EuroLeague week in the most impressive manner imaginable by crushing top-seeded Olympiacos 82 – 54 and improving its record to 11 – 8.

Meanwhile, the Reds fell to 13 – 6 following a horrid performance that was in complete contrast to the game they had vs Maccabi, just two days ago.

Khimki finished this one practically from the first period. An electric start with 5/7 3-pointers and suffocating defense on Olympiacos‘ ball handlers, allowed the hosts to grab a 28 – 14 advantage. They improved their lead 49 – 25 at halftime and kept controlling every aspect of the game until the final buzzer.

Round 18 MVP Alexey Shved posted game-highs in points (19), assists (7) and PIR (19) while Charles Jenkins scored 16 also “handcuffing” Vassilis Spanoulis who finished with -4 PIR after 5 points (2/6 shots) and 6 turnovers. Malcolm Thomas contributed12 points plus 6 rebounds.

Kyle Wiltjer (11 points) and Janis Strelnieks (10 points) were the only players that were salvaged from the wreckage that was Olympiacos tonight.
