Brose Bamberg erased a 26 points deficit to get the win in their first match-up against Barcelona Lassa but Sito Alonso’s squad won this time.
With the game on the verge (67 – 66, 36′), Rakim Sanders scored 8 consecutive points and Barcelona could breathe. He closed the game with his sixth steal and an amazing dunk.
Barca prevailed over Brose Bamberg 81 – 66 and they keep dreaming with EuroLeague playoffs. The Catalans won their first game of the week and improved to a 7-12 record, tying the German champs in the standings.
As it happened on Tuesday, coach Andrea Trincheri couldn’t be with his team. Without the Italian engineer, Bamberg didn’t take care of the ball in the first half -19 turnovers in the game- and the hosts reached a 44 – 34 lead at the break.
The visiting side slowed down the game but the “Blaugranas” continued managing double-digit leads during the third quarter (50 – 38, 26′). Maodo Lo scored back-to-back three-pointers and Bamberg had the chance to fight for the game (67 – 66, 36′) but Sanders happened.
The star: Sanders paced the winners in the clutch minutes and he finished with 17 points and 6 steals. Thomas Heurtel contributed with 15 points and 3 assists. Ante Tomic added 13 points and 9 boards.
Not enough: Lo led Bamberg in scoring with 14 while Dorell Wright had 12 points in the first half.
