Panathinaikos is in the market for a frontline addition and according to L’Equipe, the club attempted to buy the contract of Strasbourg center Lous Labeyrie.
The talks, however, reached a dead end since Strasbourg head coach Vincent Collet opposed the idea of one of his top players leaving midway through the season and while the team is pursuing titles in international (Basketball Champions League) and domestic competitions (French League).
Labeyrie, 25, has a contract with Strasbourg until 2019 and there are exit clauses only for after the completion of 2017-2018.
The French international center has been averaging 10.7 points plus 7.2 rebounds per game in the Basketball Champions League and 15.2 points, 8.3 rebounds plus 1.7 assists per game this season in the Pro A League.
