After winning their last two games on the road in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Armani suffered a loss against Zvezda in Belgrade.
“We don’t have enough continuity to win the game on this court. To win in Belgrade you have to do more. You have to fight inside, you have to be more aggressive“, said Simone Pianigiani after the game.
The Italian team allowed Zvezda to score 100 points and it was obvious that defense was not on the right level tonight.
“We didn’t protect our paint good enough. We are not consistent. This is a key for us to be more solid and more consistent in order to win the game in Belgrade. On the other side out offense was good against a very good defensive team. We moved the ball very well, but we missed some open shots“, explained Pianigiani.
On the other side, Zvezda’s coach Dusan Alimpijevic was satisfied with a win.
“It was a very important game for us because it was the last one in the Euroleague before the Serbian Cup. Our offense was very good tonight, but our defense needs to be better. It is always hard to stop players like Andrew Goudelock, Vladimir Micov in the offense, but we have to improve in that part“, stated Alimpijevic.
“It was a great team effort as we had 22 assists tonight and that’s great. I am very happy to see my players playing with this kind of energy. We will fight until the last second and the last chance that I can promise“. said the youngest coach in the Euroleague.
