Panathinaikos came back from a 13-point deficit tonight against Olympiacos, got a lead in the first minutes of overtime but couldn’t complete what they began, ultimately falling to their archrival.
In the post-game press conference, Panathinaikos head coach Xavi Pascual discussed the reasons why his team trailed for most the regulation and the fact that his players didn’t manage to deliver in the key details that decide such close games.
“Thanks to the fans who came to the game. We feel sorry for this loss. I think it was a game that we did not feel the game well in the second quarter. We did not have a good defense, we did not play good on offense, and this is why Olympiacos took advantage. In the third quarter we played better defense and better offense, but could not change the game. Always something happened that we did not score easy baskets, or they scored a difficult basket, and always they kept the advantage. We changed the game in the fourth quarter. We had the opportunity to win, we had the last ball, but we could not score. In the extra time the game was the same. In the last part of the game a lot of things happened, but ok, it is what happens in these kinds of games, and we could not win. We have to get better, all of us have to continue, and think about the next games.”
