Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul defeated Zalgiris Kaunas and qualified for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Zalgiris slipped to a 15-10 record and is now tied with Real Madrid. After the game, coach Saras Jasikevicius and Zeljko Obradovic shared their thoughts about the game.
Coach Obradovic commented on Zalgiris‘ season: “Congratulations to Zalgiris, about everything they have done this year. They are a very good coached team and they play good basketball.”
He also stated his thoughts about the game: “For me, it was a similar game we played in the first round against Zalgiris. They (Zalgiris) play very well this year, aggressive basketball as they did tonight. In the first half, they put a lot of pressure, and we shot bad percentages. We tried to find the best options defensively, offensively and in the second half, we played a lot better. We moved the ball, scored some tough shots and it was not an easy win.”
On Kostas Sloukas and his performance he stated: “He played very smart, scored a very difficult shot. it was a decisive three-pointer. You have to take the shot. Zalgiris tried to trap us, we were good and this was key. He played good.”
On the other hand, coach Saras Jasikevicius’ commented on the loss: “Congratulations to Fener. They were the better team, they were composed, smart and nothing more. The guys were fighting but we couldn’t pull it out against one of the best teams in the EuroLeague“.
