Olympiacos forward Kostas Papanikolaou will be out in the upcoming game against former team Barcelona, Thursday (15/3), for Round 26 of the EuroLeague Regular Season. It will be his first absence in this season’s EuroLeague.
The 26-year-old Greek player was considered doubtful this past week, due to a tendonitis problem on his right foot, an issue which also kept him out in the Greek League match vs. Rethymno. On Wednesday (14/3) he was ruled out against the Blaugrana.
Papanikolaou averages 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 25 games in EuroLeague. With five matches remaining for the completion of the regular season, Olympiacos is already qualified to the playoffs and is currently at the second spot of the standings with an 18 – 7 record.
Barcelona, that is 8 – 17 and eliminated from playoff contention, travels to Piraeus without four players after forward Sasha Vezenkov became the latest addition to the team’s injury list.
