Valencia Basket won the game against Real Madrid 96-88 in Round 27 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. The big guys led the charge as Dubljevic scored 17 points in addition to Pleiss who also scored 14. On the other side, Facundo Campazzo and Taylor Jeffery score 17 points each but it was far from enough.
Valencia started using their low post advantage from the first quarter while Walter Tavares was on the bench and that created a few open 3-point shots. They scored three times from behind the arc for a 14-5 run in the first five minutes of the second period and gained a double-digit lead (36-26). The guests answered with five straight points before the break, but Valencia still had an edge (46-40).
The game continued in the same tempo after the halftime and the home team gradually increased their advantage back to ten points before the final period (70-60). Real Madrid started the last quarter with a 5-0 run trying to make a comeback but Valencia kept a cool head and finished the game securely.
No matter the outcome, Real Madrid has secured a playoff spot and are at 4th position with a 16-11 record. Valencia on the other side is out of the playoff picture with 10-17.
