Txus Vidorreta was very happy with the performance his team showed in the win against Real Madrid in Round 27 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
He especially noted the effort throughout all 40 minutes, not letting the opponent get close: “We played a great game, our job in defense and offense was fantastic during 40 minutes. Controlling defensive rebound and points in the fast break, and playing with confidence during the whole game, sharing the ball attacking the weak points. Also, ten players scoring a three-pointer, it’s quite unusual. We had a great mentality in 40 minutes and of course, we are very happy with this important victory.”
Pablo Laso, on the other hand, wasn’t too unhappy about his team’s performance but thought they could do something more: “First, congratulations to Valencia for the victory. I think it was a game where lacked a bit of tendency at the start, they had a little bit of advantage and we weren’t able to come back. On the second half, I think we did a good job but at the end when you look at the stats, more or less it’s similar.”
He pointed to two statistic points that made the key difference in his opinion: “I think this two situation made a difference in the game, the percentage on the three-point line and our terrible percentage from the free throws. We are talking about a game decided by eight points and they scored 15 three-pointers with 50% and we missed eight free throws. Not happy because we could do something more to win this game but we knew that Valencia has a lot of talent and it will be a hard game. We try to think about our next game that we play in a couple of days.”
