Valencia Baskets beat AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan on the road 93-89 recoding its second straight win in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague after knocking down Real Madrid on Tuesday night.
Erick Green beat the buzzer by nailing a contested three-pointer at the end of the third quarter and gave a three-point lead to his team (68-65). This moment turned to be was a big boost for the visiting side. Green had a game-high for Valencia with 18 points followed by Bojan Dubljevic’s 11 points and four boards.
After trailing in the first half and during the third quarter, Valencia took the control of the game in the fourth quarter. Tibor Pleiss and Green scored eight points combined at the start of the last quarter and pushed the Spanish side to a 79-71 lead.
It looked like Valencia will take care of business after leading by 10 (85-75) with three minutes left in the game. However, Curtis Jerrrels with two quick threes and Vladimir Micov with one brought the host back into the game. With only 20 seconds left on the clock, the Italians were down by only one point (90-89) with a ball in their hands.
Jerrels proved to be careless as he turned the ball over giving up Milan’s chance for the win away.
Not even the huge shooting night by Micov couldn’t save the Italians. After recording a career-high of 28 points in the game against Trento on Saturday Micov had another strong performance. He had 27 points on a 7/9 shooting from the three-point territory.
With this win, Valencia moved up to an 11-18 record while Armani falls to a 9-19 record.
