Even though Real Madrid defeated Crvena Zvezda thanks to Luka Doncic’s game-winner to remain in the top-4, Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens blew out Valencia Basket 75 – 56 in Athens.
It was all about showtime in OAKA with Nick Calathes leading the way. Pascual’s players provided us with numerous highlight plays, including dunks, no-look assists, and blocks. Panathinaikos’ superstar was really impressive, finishing with a double-double. He scored 17 points (7/10 FG) and handed out 10 assists (7 in just the first quarter). Chris Singleton added 11 points, while Adreian Payne also affected the game positively with his presence down low (12 pts. 8r. 2bl.).
For the visitors, Errick Green had 10 points (the only player in double-digits for Valencia) but Valencia scored a season-low 56 points.
Since early on, Pascual’s squad build a double-digit lead (20-6). Valencia tried to come back but eventually failed. In key moments, Calathes, Chris Singleton, and Thanassis Antetokounmpo had a big impact on the game.
Panathinaikos is now tied with Real Madrid in the standings (18-11), but the tie belongs to the Spanish team. The final games next week will decide the final positions. Valencia slipped to 11-18.
