The final score was 81-79 after two free throws by Krunoslav Simon and one by Toney Douglas. Being three points down (80-77) Baskonia had the ball in the last 10 seconds, Rodrigue Beaubois was fouled, made two free throws (80-79) and Marcelinho Huertas stole the ball from Errick McCollum.
However, the Brazilian guard couldn’t score and Douglas decided the final score by making his first attempt from the free throws line and missing the second on purpose. Baskonia couldn’t score from the field during the last two minutes with Huertas, Beaubois and Matt Janning missing the chance to give to the hosts the lead before the final seconds.
McCollum with 21 points and Brock Motum with 16 were the top scorers of the guests who got a nine points lead at the end of the third (60-51). Baskonia started the game well, led by five at the end of the first period (18-13), but Efes had the lead at halftime (33-32).
The Turkish side got just their seventh win of the season, they are the last team in the standings but managed to end their season with their head high. Sonny Weems didn’t play for the winning side. Toko Shengelia and Vincent Poirier with 17 points each were the leading scorers of Baskonia.
