CSKA Moscow president Andrey Vatutin commented on what took place yesterday in Madrid where Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos walked off from the meeting of the EuroLeague shareholders before its conclusion when he heard the other 15 teams unanimously turning down his proposals.
“Regarding the Panathinaikos matter and his owner’s (Dimitris Giannakopoulos) “demarche”, we should distinguish the emotional aspect from the strictly business part. Panathinaikos has participated in the competition (EuroLeague) for many years and its an old partner of ours in matters of EuroLeague development. It’s also a club with great history, faithful fans, and great tradition. None of the club representatives set a question of expelling Panathinaikos. Personally, I would like to see common sense prevail, emotions getting subsided and Panathinaikos continuing in the competition,” Vatutin mentioned in a written statement, per the official website of CSKA.
