Belgrade marks Brad Wanamaker’s first Final Four experience and he’s more than excited for the big event.
“It’s going to be very intense. I’m very excited, this is my first time and hopefully not my last [smiles]”, Wanamaker tells Eurohoops.
Fenerbahce will face Zalgiris Kaunas in the semifinal and the 28-year-old guard explains how he sees his opponent: “They’re the best team they can be, they make big-time plays.” As for pressure, Wanamaker doesn’t seem to let it get under his skin. “Everybody talks about pressure, I try to stay away from it. Zalgiris is in the Final Four for a reason; because they’re a really good team”.
The reigning EuroLeague and Turkish League champions have a lot of weight on their shoulders, with two titles to defend this season. Wanamaker explains: “It’s all about being a professional and staying hungry. We work very hard and we don’t want to short our net this season, so that’s what’s keeping us motivated”, he adds.
Wanamaker also gives a brief insight on his experience with Fenerbahce so far: “We have a healthy locker room, the coach jokes around, so this carries on the court. If you see, in each game, we’re constantly picking each other up, watching what’s going on”.
