Tucked within the ancient walls of Belgrade’s iconic Kalemegdan Fortress and representing an unusual blend of basketball fun and history, the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague FanZone was once again a story of success during the Final Four weekend in the Serbian capital.
Smaller in size due to this unique setting, but packed with fun-filled activities, the FanZone was the place for basketball lovers from all over to congregate during for three memorable days. Supporters of the four teams playing for EuroLeague glory joined numerous locals and passionate fans of other EuroLeague squads to keep the FanZone buzzing with singing, dancing and basketball throughout the weekend.
Although the weather did not always cooperate, the fans never ceased to celebrate. With a wide range of activities to choose from, prizes to win and events to see, the visitors interacted and participated in FanZone activities for longer than ever before. Fans who came to the FanZone during the Final Four weekend spent an average time of almost two hours on the premises.
Among the highlights, fans packed the stands and the sidelines of the main court to see Euroleague Basketball Ambassadors take part in One Team Session & Ambassadors Exhibition Game for the FanZone opening on Friday, then had a chance on Saturday to greet, talk or have photos taken with more than a dozen players from the four teams playing in the Final Four.
As usual, entertainment areas sponsored by Euroleague Basketball partners were filled with around-the-clock activities in the FanZone. Turkish Airlines, 7DAYS, adidas, fonbet, Spalding, AX Armani Exchange, Tadim, EFES, Voda Voda, Tripoki, Caffe Buscaglione and HEED, among others, all made sure that their pavilions and stands offered loads of fun, including a variety of games to play and contests to choose from. Of course, shooting hoops on a few dozen baskets of all heights and sizes in those areas was the activity in which those who packed the FanZone all weekend long engaged in the most.
In addition, more than 800 players on 180 teams competed in various categories at the adidas 3×3 Tournaments, and 120 more took part in the 5-on-5 College Tournament, bringing the total number of men, women, boys and girls competing on FanZone’s basketball courts to just short of 1,000.
The visitors could also enjoy the entertainment provided by the Efes EuroLeague Dancing Squad, the drummers, and DJ Varda, who kept everyone moving to the beat for 12 hours each day. A TDI Radio Station DJs House Party and a live concert from a local band Neverne Bebe capped each of first two days, helping to make the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Fanzone a site basketball fans could not afford to miss.
